My name is Kate Aarness, and I'm a theatre artist currently residing in Moorhead, Minnesota. I most recently completed a Master of Fine Arts degree in Devised Performance from The Pig Iron School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in cooperation with the University of the Arts in December 2021. My Bachelor of Art degree is from Minnesota State University, Moorhead completed in 2016 in Theatre Arts, a minor in Theatre Acting, and an emphasis in Musical Theatre. I'm also an alumnus of the British American Drama Academy's London Theatre Program, Fall 2015. My training has laid a solid foundation for my desire to portray multifaceted characters with depth, truth, and clarity.
I grew up on my family's Century Farm, outside a small town in the midwest portion of Minnesota, called Barnesville (pop. 2,570). Performance was always an interest of mine, and I spent most free time dancing, singing, and acting as much as I could. Choir, band, competitive dance, and speech, along with numerous middle school and high school theatre productions, were all activities I could be found doing throughout my primary schooling.
